Before starting your shed roof project, check if your local building codes to see if your shed building plans conforms to its provisions. You don t want to waste your time, effort and money to find out later on that the codes does approve with it. Only after approval can you start building your roof trusses or at the least install your prefabricated ones. Is it just for storage, or do you plan to make it as a garden shed as well? Prepare your plans well and determine its size, consulting first the area where you plan to build the shed. Make sure that the area is free from any underground cables, wirings, or pipes. This will ensure that the shed will not act as a hindrance if there are repairs to be done. Only three walls are provided and the fourth side left open. This is necessary as this allows airflow which in turn allows the firewood to dry properly. But because of this open side, it would also be easy for rain and snow to be blown inside by the wind. To avoid this or to minimize moisture, it is best that the open side should not face the direction of the wind. Many woodworking aficionados could attest that this is one of the most versatile materials there is. Plus, they not only look good but with responsible cutting, trees would never run out of supplies. When it comes to storage sheds, using lumber is one of the best choices there is. With a proper shed plan and woodworking pattern, you will be able to have not only an effective and easy to build shed, but also a great looking compliment to your property. For enhanced resistance in rotting and bug infestation, you may use red cedar. The downside to this is that it can be a bit costly to some. A less pricey alternative is the white cedar. Another popular choice for wooden siding is the rough sawn pine. It is commonly used for a siding with a board and batten design. Make sure that your framing is secure and a solid stake is driven securely to the ground so that you have a sturdy post to attach your frame to. Don t skimp on the nails, make sure that they securely fasten and attach all parts of your wooden storage shed. Try to wiggle or shake your walls to see if they are secure and that they are no gaps.
